One of the greatest things about living in Chicago is the free opportunities–music, art, dance, air shows, festivals, a fabulous beach, really, there’s no lack of entertainment in this city!
When I moved to the city last year I immediately went about my typical research routine, scouring the internet for hot spots, history, and usual survival sites like transitchicago.com and the Trib’s webpage. During this process I happened upon chicago.going.com.
I was on this site a few weeks ago when I noticed the open call to artist at Evil Olive, a bar/club in Wicker Park. “Doing art in a club? I love it!” I thought to myself, then quickly relayed the event to Allie, a friend of a friend I was meeting for the first time, and my roommate Serina.
Everyone was down to check it out, and we even lucked out since Serina is friend’s with the manager and DJ–Seyoung (last photo in the series).
The first shot shows the arrangement at the club–four long card tables line the center of the room with lights on each end. The 3-4 artists at sitting at these tables were featured by the club, and the others in the back room were general guest practicing their craft.

The artwork, ranging from $10-$50…I wanted to buy something, but got distracted taking pictures.
Craving the new 5D and it’s low light capabilities….

I dig the ‘stache.

ParkerMB - This sounds like an awesome event! Cool find, I'm glad you took the initiative to check it out and make some photos. I really like the third on and the second one–really moody light.
